Osteopathy is a regulated profession, with all osteopaths required by law to register with the General Osteopathic Council, who ensure that all osteopaths operate to high professional standards.
Osteopathy is a manual therapy approach to treating muscle and joint aches and pains that uses techniques such as articulation, physical manipulation, stretching, massage as well as fascial and visceral techniques. It works with the structure and function of the body, with the belief that the well-being of an individual depends on the health of the skeleton, muscles, ligaments, vascular and nervous systems functioning properly.
As well as working structurally, I can treat using the more gentler techniques of cranial osteopathy which is suitable for all ages, and particularly in treating children and babies and in the treatment of cervicogenic headaches and migraine prevention. I also provide advice on posture, stretches and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.
