What is Cranial Osteopathy?
Cranial osteopathy is a subtle type of osteopathic treatment that uses gentle techniques to encourage the release of stresses, tensions and restrictions in the body's ligaments, bones and fascia, including the head.
The head (cranium) is made up of many bone joined together, which allows it to change shape very subtly to accommodate the movement of the brain, cerebral fluid and blood flow inside the skull. When normal movement of these bones are disrupted, for example from an impact head injury, this disrupts the normal flow inside the skull creating restrictions and dysfunction.
Cranial osteopathy can help to release restrictions and aid normal functioning movement of the cranium. It is a gentle but effective technique that can be used on people of all ages and is particularly effective on children and in the treatment of headaches.
